Drawing and painting have been a constant in my life. Starting with art lessons at an early age and growing up with aunts and a grandfather who were artists , it may have been inevitable. Exposed to print making in one aunt’s well-equipped studio, another aunt’s large abstract paintings, plus my grandfather’s gold leaf and calligraphy commercial projects , all were very influential.
With parents wise enough to recognize that I had a serious interest in studying art, I had the support to focus on Graphic Design in an art program in college. My years as a graphic designer were satisfying and successful, but eventually I wanted to get back to drawing and painting.
Ultimately I received an MFA in painting and now I teach studio art classes. Crazy how life takes unexpected curves in the road. I love teaching art!
I participate in the Daily Painters Art Gallery along the way. My inspiration comes from everyday ordinary encounters. I always travel with camera in hand and my photographs are the springboard for my paintings.
